Powerful, elegant, and refined – the eighteenth-century repertoire was like the design of the French harpsichords. In 1740 Jean-Joseph Cassanéa de Mondonville appeared on the scene with a new genre in which the harpsichord and the violin finally engaged in a dialogue as equals. The “Dream Team” (Early Music Review) of Philippe Grisvard and Johannes Pramsohler has rediscovered this neglected repertoire and now presents it here in a captivating selection of the best works, partially in world premiere recordings.
Puissant, élégant, raffiné ; comme la facture française des clavecins était aussi le répertoire du XVIIIe siècle. 1740 Jean-Joseph Cassanéa de Mondonville inaugure un genre nouveau dans lequel clavecin et violon dialoguent finalement sur un pied d’égalité. « Équipe de rêve » selon Early Music Review, Philippe Grisvard et Johannes Pramsohler ont redécouvert ce chapitre du répertoire négligé et présentent ici une sélection prodigieuse des meilleures œuvres, dont certaines sont des premiers enregistrements mondiaux.
